It is so much easier for your audience to follow along if they know they can relate. Here are tips to keep them engaged and ready to interact!
[if !supportLists]● [endif]Get to know them: Because these people will gather together to listen to you ramble for an hour or so, you can never know too much about them. After finding out as much as you can about their backgrounds then try to figure out why they are here to listen to you. Try to shape your speech to meet the needs of every audience member.
[if !supportLists]● [endif]Use their slang: Once you’ve found out everything you can then use it to gain their trust. Speak to that part of them that only their friends and family can relate to and once they know you are on their side they will become more receptive.
[if !supportLists]● [endif]Use visuals: Pictures, Videos, Gifs or PowerPoint’s are all great tools to keep the audience engaged and also make your speech memorable. Anything that will help and allow your audience to think more about your topic is very helpful. It helps them to remember so much more about what you spoke on.
[if !supportLists]● [endif]Watch your facts: When giving out information, double check and make sure it is correct. If you give them false information and they find out, then they know that you cannot be trusted anymore.
