Producing a Good Video

Videos do not need to be flawless in most cases. There is also still a certain standard you should have when making a video.

During pre-production you should create and use an outline. Pointing and shooting is not the best idea for making a video. This means developing what you want to say and when you want to say it.

Make sure the sources you use change. You should not use the same source especially if it is an interview source. People do not want to see the same person every week of a weekly show.

For you interviews make sure to use a diverse group of people. Use people of difference age, race and gender. If this is for a company, use workers of different salaries and departments.

During the production of the video there are a couple things to make sure get done. The first is to make sure you have proper lighting. It is better to have too much lighting than not enough. A small LED light will help with color balance on you shot at close range.

Use a makeup artist; the lighting will bring out blemishes in the skin. A professional makeup artist will know how to fix any problems in cosmetics.

Be sure to use a good microphone. The microphones on cameras are typically not good so use a one that can be connected to your interviewer and interviewee. Sound clarity will help keep your audience's attention.

Use a tripod for stability, people do not want to see a shaking interview. Shoot more than the interviewer's head. Do not make it look like you are interviewing a floating head.
