Careless, unprofessional, lazy… All detrimental adjectives to describe your PR writing. It is worth spending an extra few minutes going over your writing and avoiding these profound mistakes. What follows is 3 key things to make sure you avoid!

  1. THE RED LETTER MISTAKE: THE TYPO:

Proofread. It is the number one thing that will save you from making a majority of the following mistakes. Errors in writing lead to the loss of credibility and ultimately the interest of the reader. You would be better off not writing the piece at all.

  1. PEOPLE HATE JARGON:

Why? It is annoying to not know what the writer is talking about. They will NOT take the time to research exactly what you mean. Bottom line, keep it simple.

  1. VERIFY YOUR WORDS

Nothing is tackier than/then using the wrong word. Take time to verify that you are using the correct word.

Accept – Except

Affect – Effect

Desert – Dessert

There – Their – They’re

You’re – Your

To – Too

Its – It’s
