Handouts are important to a company. Handouts serve two primary purposes for any business or company. First, it keeps the customers updated on what the company is doing while also keeping them interested, and it also for the employees and keeping them informed. Three primary used handouts are Flyers, Newsletters, and Brochures. Those three can be beneficial for any company if used correctly.

Flyers

A Flyer is a small handbill advertising for an event or product. Each flyer should be planned out to have necessary information in it. Flyers should be creative to gain attention and to catch people’s eye. Things that a flyer should have are:

  • Eye-catching Headline

  • Necessary Information

  • Creative Design and Pictures

  • A Call to Action

  • Contact Information

Flyers do not need to look the same and the more creative they look, the more attention they will receive.

Newsletters

Newsletters can keep clients updated on what a company is working on and contain other types of information such as employee experiences and extracurricular activities they may be in. Newsletters should be sent out a couple of times a year, when management thinks it's necessary, but they can be longer than a few pages and contain different stories and pictures. A Newsletter should include:

  • Current and Future Company Events

  • Employee Profiles and Small Interviews

  • “Tips and Tricks” for Employees

  • Employee Generated Content

  • Customer interviews

  • Additional Background Information for Customers and Employees

Newsletters should contain different types of stories that will be collected over a period of time.

Brochures

Brochures are used for sharing promotional material. They are different than flyers because Brochures can be made into different shapes and sizes. Most Brochures are created in a tri-fold but they do not have to be limited to that style. Brochures should include:

  • Pictures and Visual elements

  • Informational Text

  • Creative Design and Layout

  • Gain Audience Attention

  • Call to Action

  • Contact Information

Brochures should be creative and gain customers attention. It should contain information that gets the customer interested and drive them to complete an action.
