How to Write a Feature Story

Grabbing the audience attention is the first key to a good feature story. Grab the reader’s attention by writing headline that tells a story.

Write 20 to 30 words to grab your readers attention and telling the Who, What, Where, When and Why. This is your lead and his will turn a reader away or get them hooked to your story.

The second paragraph should support your first. This is a good place for an attribution or a quote from an interview.

Tell a story do not start with a question. A feature story is not a mystery novel; just tell your audience a story. Expressing why they should be reading your article.

Keep all paragraphs short, this makes your piece easier to read. Short sentence also make your ideas clear and organized. This is a strategy to keep the readers attention.

Make sure you tell your readers why they should care. Avoid telling them this is the best or the first because this would be an opinion. A feature story is not an opinion piece.
