When working in the field of Public Relations there are three types of blogs that you could be writing. The types of blogs are organizational, employee and third-party.

An organizational blog is written by a public relations firm most of the time. They write the blog to appear to be from the executives of the company. The problem with this type of blog is it consists of a bias executives opinion.

The positives and reason for having an organizational blog is to interact with consumers directly. This gives consumers a chance to write comments on the blog.

There are also Employee Blogs this is a blog consisting of companies’ employees creating a blog.

Employee blogs are good because each employee gives a slightly different point of view. This is also good for employee involvement. The negative side to an employee blog is an employee might not know what is confidential and non-confidential information.

The final type of blog is a Third-party Blog. This were a company hires a third-party to do their blogging. Companies such as blogger.com and livejournal.com are a couple third-party blogging organizations.

Third-party blogging is not good because you have less control of what is posted. However, you do not have to do the work.
